2/48/11 The New Raiding Fire Build For Mages In 2.3.2?
Whenever someone asked for a good raiding fire build, the answer was almost always the 10/48/3 spec. It had the tools to be an excellent PvE build with the high damage output and mana efficiency from talents like arcane concentration and master of elements while also being a decent PvP build (at least for battlegrounds and smaller arena teams) with the likes of blast wave and dragon’s breath.
But some people are toying with the idea of slightly different build for when patch 2.3.2 comes out and iceblock becomes trainable. It’s called 2/48/11. Basically the points in arcane concentration and arcane focus would go to points in frost until they get icy veins. This allows the mage to sacrifice some mana efficiency for a chance to dish out more dps every 3 minutes since icy veins allows the mages to decrease casting time for a short period of time.
Even if I don’t play a fire mage, I love the idea that fire mages can now have a choice between the two builds to fit their needs and their style. Instead of having a cookie cutter fire raiding talent build, there will be more variety. As for frost mages, patch 2.3.2 just means a cool new spell in our arsenal!

I have a Fire Mage ..Deep Fire, got everything except flamestrike…horrible talent should be replaced with something like spell damage to all spells by 40 or something then with only 2 points in frost for mana reduction, I pvp and hardly ever raid… I must say that I pwn anything except Those really tuff healers who heal me to death…basically they wait until someone helps them then they heal them. Anyway I’m just saying Fire is a very good tree to go for pvp AND pve. Frost is good for survival but Fire is a good way to Destroy someone. Anyway think about going 0/59/2. I’ve been tempted to go fire so many times in the past. I was worried about not having ice block but now that it’s available to all mages that’s no longer a concern. but I feel like frost is really what I’m most comfortable with. but who knows, I might decide to go fire some day.
