A Little Break From The Game Is Good For You
It’s a great thing to be passionate about World of Warcraft but there are times when it’s just great to take a step back for a short while and enjoy the other things in life. When my subscription expired last November 16, I took the opportunity to do just that. A few days after patch 2.3 came out I decided to take the opportunity to take a break from the game.
I’ve taken breaks before but they were forced. The first time I took a break was because I plain couldn’t afford to pay for the monthly subscription. I’m from the Philippines so the $15 subscription is a bigger pain in the wallet. The other time I had to take a break was because of my eye condition called keratoconus. I was ordered by my ophthalmologist to stop wearing my contact lenses to let my corneas heal. For a while I couldn’t see well enough to play the game.
This time I took a break on my own will and it feels refreshing. Taking a break makes prevents burnout from playing the game and it also gives you renewed enthusiasm when you get back. I’m still currently on my break but I should be back playing really soon. Take a break once in a while. I really think it’s good for all us players.

Great idea! I’ve only taken one break from the game since it was launched, but that break was 6 months. I’m starting to get to the burned out position again and may take you up on your advice for a little “vacation”. :D

Everytime I really feel like I need a break it seems like they add something I have to have or want to do. You pay for 6 months of service and 6 months later you think you’ll take a break and there is brewfest, or the headless horseman, or new dungeons and gear. You have to admit that they have the best marketing and development team in the biz. I….CANT….STOP…..

Hehe… I wasn’t quite “ready” to stop either myself. I stopped when my play time ran out and I that sort of took me by surprise. But anyway I decided to take a break and a few days after patch 2.3 came out too! Even if I missed out on a lot of cool new stuff, I could say that taking a break really was relaxing and gave me time to do other things.
