A Tribute To The Thundercats!

Because I miss my guild mates so much, I decided to write a special piece about the birth and rise of our beloved guild to share with you all. Here’s to my fellow Thundercats! Hoooooooo!

Mid 2006 was the time the guild Gormenghast was formed from the ashes of one of the Molten Core raiding guilds in our server. It was formed during a 5 month break I took from playing WoW. It took a while to get themselves back on their feet but after some great recruiting they managed to build a force that ripped through Zul’gurub, Molten Core and even the Ruins of Ahn’qiraj. When I got back from my break I joined them in all that pwnage! We had fun times all the way to when TBC came out and most of us became 70. Suddenly the guild fell apart because people started leaving for several different reasons. We were all sad to go our separate ways. I followed my friends to a young guild that eventually became one of the largest raiding guilds on the horde side of my server. After getting disappointed from the lack of activity I was getting since I was way behind the rest of the guild I decided it was to part ways with them.

Sometime during my stay with that raiding guild I was approached by an old friend from Gormenghast who was on her blood elf rogue in level 20’s named Pumyra (her main was Tigara). She wanted to start a new guild that was her own. It was a place she could control and have fun with friends but mainly it was a place where all her friends’ alts could have a home. It was an alts guild and she called it Thundercats. I logged on my blood elf paladin alt and signed the charter.

It wasn’t until about a month later I guess that I decided to transfer my main over to the Thundercats. It was still quite small but because a lot of former members of Gormenghast slowly started to “come home” our roster started to get better and better. We started running more dungeons more frequently and before you know it we had what it took to start talking about Karazhan, We went into a feverish run of getting more and more and more of our 70’s to get keyed and before you know it we were in. Well the whole process took months actually but looking back at it now, I say it was worth the wait.

To make a long story short, the Thundercats defeated the Curator in our first week inside and news is Terestian Illhoof and Prince Malchezaar saw the same fate just a few weeks later (I already started my break by that time so I’m sad I couldn’t be with them when it happened). It’s amazing that a guild that started out as a mere alts guild grew to such wonderful guild with a lot of success. I feel proud and honored to be a Thundercat! I miss you guys!

Do you have any nice guild stories and experiences you want to share?
