Activision-Vivendi Merger Now Official!
It’s been announced a few months back that Activision and Vivendi reached an agreement to merge. Well after all this time, the deal is now official making Activision Blizzard a reality! Since Vivendi, the owner of Blizzard Entertainment, is a French company they needed the merger needed the approval of the European Commission and it’s been given.
The complex deal will give Vivendi a 52 percent stake in a new industry giant called Activision Blizzard with annual revenue of $3.8 billion, rivaling that of Electronic Arts Inc, the world’s biggest independent game publisher.
The Commission said for “all categories of game software, the combined firm would continue to face several strong, effective competitors, such as Electronic Arts, and the game console manufacturers, such as Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft”.

Now that the merger is official, we probably might see more Activision inspired jokes and designs related to World of Warcraft. The Guitar Hero inspired Bard joke in April Fools is a taste of what we might see in the future. Who knows, we might even see some when Wrath of the Lich King comes out.
