Aside From Getting Nerfed, Magtheridon Is Dropping New Stuff!
In the days when Blizzard was releasing information about the Burning Crusade expansion, it already was my impression that Magtheridon would be the level 70 equivalent of Onyxia. In the pre-TBC days, Onyxia was viewed as the raid boss to kill if you want phat epics in just a short encounter. I never saw the Onyxia encounter because by the time I eventually got keyed, TBC came out like a week later. I’ve been trying to get my guild mates to raid the place but we just don’t have enough people keyed to do it and I guess they feel that getting keyed would just be a waste of time.
Magtheridon looked like the same to me - phat epics in a short encounter. It seems like with the recent changes in store for patch 2.4, he’s becoming more and more like Onyxia without the long quest chain to get keyed. First of all, he’s getting nerfed so that players will have an easier time.

Also according to World of Raids, Magtheridon will be dropping badges of justice, 3 Black Temple quality gems, a BoP non unique 20 slot bag called Pit Lord’s Satchel, and 25 gold for each player in the raid.
Hearing about the nerf and the cool new loot makes me want my guild and our associate guild to start gearing up faster so we can attempt Magtheridon in the near future.
