Cool New Engineering Fun!
Engineering has always been known to be the “fun” profession because of its ability to make a lot of cool stuff like gadgets, bombs, goggles, guns and a lot more. About 30 new schematics were added to the latest beta build and judging from those, it seems like engineers will have a lot to cheer about when the Wrath of the Lich King expansion hits.
We’ve already learned about the engineer crafted motorbike called The Hog, but it’s not included in the build yet. Even so, I think engineers will have quite some stuff they find cool. The following are what I find interesting:
MOLL-E (Mobile Oversized Letter and Literary Extractor)
I’m pretty sure this was inspired by the film Wall-E. Basically it’s a portable mailbox that you can use for 5 minutes. I’ve always had this annoyance of receiving mail in the middle of a raid and not being able to retrieve it. With this, engineers will be able to get their mail anywhere they are.
Nestingway 4000
There’s nothing new with an engineer made gun. But this epic quality gun is still different since it’s made for warriors. The +42 stamina and +21 defense rating easily tells everyone that this is not a hunter weapon. It also has a blue socket with a +6 stamina socket bonus and +18 hit rating.
Gnomish Army Knife
Just like real army knives are all in one devices, the gnomish army knife is an all in one tool for engineers. It’s a gyromatic micro adjuster, arclight spanner, flint and tinder, blacksmithing hammer, mining pick, skinning knife and even goblin jumper cables all in one device. This is definitely worth making since it’s going replace all those tools and the best part is that this isn’t a specialized schematic so you don’t need to be a gnomish engineer to make it.
The Level 72 head pieces with just a meta slot
Greensight Gogs, Charged Titanium Goggles, Weakness Spectralizers, and Electroflux Sight Enhancer and Visage Liquification Goggles - all these area bit curious since all they have is armor and a meta slot. If you like using meta slots at level 72, these are probably for you. I just wonder if having just a meta gem will be good enough to match the gear you can get from quests and dungeons at this level.
Why are there two kinds of leather goggles though? There’s no difference at all.
Gnomish X-ray Specs
Allows user to see players without clothing and armor. You have to be a gnomish engineer to use these. It’s one of those “fun” items. Damn gnomes… I knew they were pervs.
Engineering “Enchants”

These engineering “enchants” can only be used by the engineer and looks like they’re more for the PvP oriented players. Engineering is after all the best PvP profession. You can have things make you run faster, or burn enemies with a glove pyro device or make your cloak act like a parachute for a few seconds. One thing I can see players using in a PvE setting is the “Hyperspeed Accelerators” that you can attach to your gloves to increase your haste rating. Haste is something raiders use, especially the healers.

I’ve never actually looked into engineering at all, however this sounds quite cool, I’m guessing there’s lots of other cool stuff that engineers can do - having a helicopter would be cool, but I suppose you need to be an engineer to use one?

In fact engineers can make helicopters right now. It’s called the flying machine and yeah only engineers can use them
