Even More WoTLK Updates!
Just when you thought things can’t get any more interesting, even more updates about the coming Wrath of the Lich King expansion have come out. These updates we’ve seen including the ones below have painted a much clearer picture about what to expect from the Death Knight hero class and about the expansion in general.
I’ll be outlining a few things I find interesting below. The full updates summarized in MMO Champion can be found here and here. The first update can be found here.
Northrend is Huge!
Northrend is considerably larger than The Burning Crusade’s Outland, and is composed of nine immense zones. Dragonblight, situated between the two starting areas - Borean Tundra in the west and Howling Fjord in the east - is the largest zone the WOW team has ever built source
As long as these zones have multiple flight paths to get around them easily like some of the zones in the Outland then it’s quite fine. To think I find zones like Netherstorm and Nagrand pretty huge already. Bigger zones means more places to explore but it also means huge expanses to travel by. Of course this won’t be much of a problem later on when we can fly around northrend with our flying mounts.
Passenger Mounts?
The mounts available to buy in Wrath will probably be able to take passengers. These mounts will also work in the old world (Provided they are land mounts), so players can give low-level characters a ride! The new mounts will also be slightly faster, around the speed of the Armored Netherdrakes. source
A faster mount that can give rides to lowbies? I can see it now. “LF someone to bring me to Arathi highlands from UC”.
New Arenas?
It’s possible that two new arenas might be introduced. one of them could be in Dalaran while the other could be the Orgrimmar arena. Somehow I wouldn’t want the Alliance to be able to use the org arena but since it’s already there and it’s not being used then it might as well be a fully functional arena.
Blacksmiths and gem slots
Blacksmiths may be able to make gem slots for items that didn’t have any. This would be a cool addition to the game. I was hoping for this ever since jewelcrafting was introduced.
What do you think about the updates so far? You can fins the other interesting updates in the links above. Happy reading!

You know what would be an even sweeter addition to blacksmithing? Adding some gear for people who aren’t warriors or retribution paladins! I picked up blacksmithing long ago on my holy pally and not once has it produced me a single decent piece of gear for my spec. And the recipes that could produce some healing gear are all from BT or some other godforsaken high level raid encounter that I’ll never reach. Blizz should try pandering to all the plate wearers out there and not just warriors!

I agree. I have a holy pally too and when I decided to drop my jewel crafting at a low level I was thinking about either Blacksmithing or Eng. I eventually went with eng since I knew I could use more stuff especially the epic goggles.
