First Time Experience Really Healing Dungeons
Having a mage as my main character, doing dungeons and raids are relatively easier than the job of tank or healer. I know that all I have to do is make big numbers pop up on top of the enemy’s head while keeping my threat below the tank’s.
The day I made my paladin, I actually envisioned her to Retribution if ever I got her to high levels. But one day I felt like I needed a different kind of character since I was already leveling a warlock. Having another character with a dps role would just be more of the same thing. That’s when I felt that having a holy paladin would be a great idea especially since they’re good PvE healers. So after coming back from my break a while back, I decided to log on to my pally who was actually shelved at the time at level 38. I was now motivated to get her to 70!
She’s level 63 now and has been holy spec since level 61. Oddly enough, I never really had the chance to get a real group for Hellfire Ramparts or Blood Furnace so I could get some real healing practice. I ended up having a few guild mates run me through. While I did have healing duties for those runs, it’s different than having a bunch of guys you level and you’re the main healer.
I finally got that chance a few days ago when a few of my guild mates brought their alts to Slave Pens in the Coilfang Reservoir in Zangarmarsh. After finding a PuG feral druid to tank for us, we went ahead. I did warn everyone that I was a newbie healer and my intention was to use the run for healing practice more than anything else.
What I can say is that healing can be a bit boring at times but it can also get your heart pumping fast in some situations. it may be that I’m not used to healing yet but when I saw main tank’s health drop like a rock, there were times I started panicking. This is especially true during the Rokmar fight when even my holy lights were only just enough to keep the tank alive instead of healing to full.
We ended up finishing the dungeon ins spite of having two of the dps die on me during the last boss fight. The tank didn’t let Quagmirran all the way out of the water so I had line of sight issues while healing. All in all, the group said I was an awesome healer and that was very gratifying for me to hear. To hear that especially from the main tank was a morale booster and that’s something a healer in training like myself would really need.
I’m looking forward to doing more dungeons so I can get more practice. Looks like right now my hope and wish that I’ll be a good healer at 70 is on the right track to becoming a reality. For now, that’s a great relief!

I found Pally healing boring.
I’ve been a Holy priest ever since I started playing WoW like 3 years ago and healing with a priest is so much more fun! More buttons to press and lots of other things to do aside from spamming Holy Light. :D

While it may seem boring that pallies only have 2 healing spells, it’s actually somewhat a blessing in disguise for me. If I had the number of heal spells that priests had, I’d probably go nuts trying to figure out when to use what. LOL

My pally heals, my first was too. leveled 1-48 as holy. they survive and handle adds better than ret early on an i am useful even if gear isn’t the best. also i am not relying on 7ppm’s for what i need to get done. just hit things til i need to heal myself. continue hitting things. i also healed w/ a priest, and even though more interactive, still, i can’t judge wisdom or light as a priest. i can’t DI a seconday rezzer. i can’t buff like the pally on the priest. just m 2 cp.
