Fresh Meat At Level 58

Ever since I came back from my WoW vacation about a month ago, I’ve been working on leveling my blood elf paladin so that I could experience what it’s like to have a healing class. It’s level 58 now and has entered the Dark Portal. Since this is my first time to enter Hellfire Peninsula with a level 58 character I’d like to share my experiences.

When I first got the Burning Crusade expansion last year, my undead mage main character was level 60 and was decked with 3 pieces of tier 1 gear, a robe of the archmage,1 more piece of epic gear and a bunch of blues. I could say that my experience in Hellfire Peninsula with a decently geared level 60 was still pretty traumatic. Never before had I encountered a whole zone so intense with fights that usually involved me fighting more than one mob due to the high aggro rate. Questing in Shadowmoon Valley as a level 68 to fresh 70 character still counts as the most deaths I’ve ever had in a zone but Hellfire Peninsula came really close. Based on this experience, I advised guild mates who had not hit 60 prior to the release of TBC to be careful while questing in Hellfire Peninsula since if I had a hard time, they would have it even harder.

Almost a year later, one of my own level 58’s enters the Outlands as fresh meat for the vicious mobs of Hellfire Peninsula and my suspicions have been confirmed. It is indeed much harder than what I experienced on my mage before. It’s so hard that at level 58, the whole places scares me. I’ve managed to fend off two level 61 mobs at the same time since I’m currently still specced Protection (and at 58 I’m sure that’s pretty good) but I wouldn’t want to experience that too often. I can’t mention how much my pally bubble has saved my skin in that zone enough.

As fresh meat in Hellfire Peninsula, I decided to get my butt out of that place after getting me some gear upgrades. I’m back to questing away in Azeroth until I feel the time is righ time to get back there (I think level 60 would be the right time).

Do you have any cool or horrible experiences about being fresh meat in Hellfire Peninsula?
