“Good” Looking Items?

For all you warlocks, shadow priests and rampaging warriors out there having evil looking pieces of armor and weapons (spikes, skulls, shadowy emissions etc) would make your character look a lot cooler. The abundance of these evil looking items pose a problem to those valiant warriors who uphold virtue and honor like the paladin or even a holy priest. It’ for this reason that Silrad from the Argent Dawn server requests that “good” looking items be made for the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. The Blizzard CM Nethaera has this to say about the mater.

Weapons and items will be suitable for the expansion and like anything else will be designed to fit within the expansion.

Beyond that, I couldn’t guarantee a trend toward “good” items so much as say that items serve the purpose they are given whether it is good or evil. Not every hero carries a gleaming sword that shines like the sun. Some have carried things that seemed counter to their very nature and yet still succeeded in achieving their lofty goals for a better end.

For now, we’ll have to wait and see what the artists have cooked up when the time comes. source

Personally I think that it would be nice to have “good” looking items but only for certain pieces of gear. Generally I want my character to look bad-ass and even if I’m playing a paladin I still want to look intimidating even with “good” looking gear. It would probably be nice for a paladin or healing priest to have gear that’s flaming all over with rays of holy light or something. In the end, as long as I look cool all that really matters for me is the stats. I mean what good is a cool looking piece of gear if the stats suck?

I still think the Judgement set is one of the best looking. Too bad my paladin never got to get any of it.

I think most of the new sets are cool looking. When it comes to the pre-BC sets, I would have loved to get the AQ set on my Pally. I love the insect look of that whole set. Plus its a ret set so it would have made it easier to lvl to 70. I saw a tauren the other day with a pair of shoulders with a giant eyeball on them that looked around and blinked and I thought that was awesome. It was a horde toon so I didnt get to inspect them. I will have to look that up when I get a chance. I think along with the new sets, Blizz should make some different auras for equipment with enchants. Yea, flaming weapons is cool and everyone knows what rogues have mongoose, but some cool different colors or new effects when something procs would be cool.
