Guild Bank Improvements Coming Soon?
When guild banks were introduced to the game in patch 2.3, we bade farewell to the guild bank alts. This was a huge thing since guild masters and officers had to make these characters and the space that these characters had depended on whether the character had extra bank slots, large bags such things. It’s great to have a real guild bank which my characters can check on anytime I like and is updated in real time. An old guild of mine used some kind of web service that displayed the contents of the guild bank alt but this was updated only when the guild master did. It was a major bummer to see something you liked only to find out it had already been given out.
While today’s guild bank is a huge improvement, it still isn’t perfect. It still has some of the same problems that we could have encountered with the bank alts. The main issue I suppose is the fact that the items aren’t as easily accessible as we would want. Just like the guild bank alts of the past, access to these items are usually limited to the guild master alone. While this is needed to prevent some abuse, I would think that its gets a bit frustrating at times when you want to take an item and no one with the proper access is online. Tigole (lead designer Jeff Kaplan) brings some good news about possible guild bank improvements that might be implemented.

This is a great idea since it will mean that that item sitting in the bank could be yours right away at the right price and you’ll be doing the guild a favor by contributing to its coffers. Of course I can foresee some mischievous guild masters pricing things at 99999g or something. Haha!

I’m liking the atricle. I’m also liking that they might add prices to the guild bank. As a guild master, I’m fair, hard, and funny 99.9% of the time. But I’ve seen great gear go to people who just want to sell it at a profit for themselves. If I could set a price on each item or a group of items I would be a happy camper. I would like it if someone somewhere could keep me posted on this idea.

I actually know of guilds who take this idea a step further and actually sell items from their guild bank to outsiders and then the proceeds go back to the guild. Of course it’s not always a guarantee that the money will go back =p

Im currently making a guild bank Addon for this exact thing & more, such as making requests for items like you would make a GM ticket, and more useful tools for Guild leaders such as unlocking / locking the guild bank with a single click.
