Guild Leaders Can Ninja The Guild Bank! 0.o

Patch 2.3 will also see the advent of guild banks. Gone are the days of creating guild bank characters as a necessity. The Guild leader will be able to give his/her members access to the bank to deposit and withdraw items and even money. I asked a question in the WoW forums a few days ago about what happens to the guild bank’s items/money if the guild disbands. I didn’t get much of a reply but finally Hortus, the Blizzard poster gives us the answer in another thread.

If the guild is disbanded the current guild leader gets all the items in the bank via his mailbox.

Well actually this isn’t any different with the current situation. Since current guild banks are characters of the guild leader or at least an officer of the guild, if the guild disbands all the loot goes to one person anyway. But I was expecting that since guild banks will be an actual bank, perhaps a little more controls could be in place. I was hoping that measures could be placed to prevent the guild leader from running off with the guild’s stuff by simply disbanding. This might not be that big a problem for those really big and established guilds since they probably won’t just disband unless really necessary. Smaller guilds that tend to form and disband really quickly are possible targets of such abuse.

I’m not sure how much of a problem this poses.

As a guild owner, people donate items to my guild they no longer need or want, with no expectation of getting it back.

A new guild will not likely have a guild bank right away, and if they do, it’s doubtful they’ll have much worth giving away. If they disband, there’s really nothing lost there.

As you mentioned in your post, established guilds are much less likely to simply disband and loot the guild bank.

Even if this occurs however I don’t see the issue. No one’s really “losing” anything per se, because they gave it up to begin with. Honestly the only people who could possibly miss out are those who potentially need something from the guild bank - in which case, it’s still not that big of a loss unless they’d already requested the item.

    Just my two cents :)

This isn’t ‘OMG WTF!!!’ shocking to me. I’ve been in a guild that had a guild bank and disbanded. Begin a Co-Leader, I got 1/3 of the money there; the rest of the gold went to the Guild Master and the other Co-Leader. ‘I sold the items in the bank that didn’t sell on the AH to a vendor and gave that money to you guys.’ siad my guild master. So sure a guild master out there might backstab you and take all your stuff but that’s how it went down wiht Bank alts and today with a Guild Bank inside the Stormwind Bank.

Yeah now that I think about it, I never really touch many things in my current guild bank so it’s not really much of an issue if my guild master runs away with the stuff.of course I wouldn’t want him to do that on purpose
