Make (Certain Spell or Ability) Trainable!

Making the mage spell iceblock trainable was just one of many efforts Blizzard has done to give more flexibility to certain classes in choosing talent specializations. Players who have been around for a while remember the times when mages’ arcane explosion was not instant and had talents to make it instant and the spell evocation was also an arcane spell mages had to put a talent point into. Druids were often forced into the Restoration tree just so that they could get Innervate - a spell that became trainable by all druids and replaced by the spell swiftmend. Druids also experienced getting their 31 point balance talent hurricane made trainable when it was replaced by more powerful Moonkin form that all higher level balance druids are associated with.

While all these past changes are really great and have made their classes much better and more flexible, there still are some talents that I feel need to get the same treatment.

Improved Corruption (Warlock - affliction):

It’s the reason why warlocks even put 5 points in he affliction tree even if they’re focused on some other tree. I know most popular builds go further to get improved lifetap but if corruption was instant cast to begin with, this would make those guys who spec 0/21/40 deep destruction much happier. I feel it’s just wrong for a warlock to not have their corruptions instant cast just like seeing those arcane explosions that weren’t instant cast back in the day.

Tactical mastery (Warrior - protection)

I never played a warrior class but last time I checked I knew this talent was in the arms tree and didn’t have the part about increased threat for bloodthirst and mortal strike. Even back then warriors were clamoring to make tactical mastery trainable because having to put points in arms just for that was a pain. Now that it’s in prot, it makes more sense since tanking warriors have a lot of need to “stance dance”. But correct me if I’m wrong - I’m of the knowledge that dps warriors also have the need to stance dance. If you’re specced arms/fury or fury/arms then you’ll definitely be a bit gimped in the rage generation department when stance dancing.

Furor (Druid- restoration)

First of all, this talent doesn’t seem to make sense. It’s a restoration talent (the healing tree) that only affects your feral forms. But yeah I know there are other talents like this in other trees. The thing that bugs me isn’t exactly the talent itself but how druids work without this talent. I always assumed that that druids in cat form automatically had 100 energy like rogues and this talent would give cat druids more than 100 energy to work with. Then a druid friend pointed out that it wasn’t the case and that druids actually start out with much less (60 energy if I’m not mistaken) and with the talent maxed out, they get the full 100. I say that cat druids should get the +40 energy part automatically and give the cat part of the furor talent something different.

What do you think about my list above? Are there other talents you want to see trainable or made an innate part of a spell?

As a warrior I always put 3 points into Tactical Mastery regardless of build and I still am able to get all the talents that are a must for Arms and for Fury.

But imagine what you can do if you didn’t need to put those 3 points there! hehe

I am a feral druid and i feel i need to point something out, if you do not have the furor talent then you start out with 0 energy when you go into cat, and furor maxed out lets you start with 40 when you go to cat, and 10 rage when you go to bear
