More Leveling Improvements For WoTLK?
For me, one of the best improvements Blizzard has implemented to the game has been the faster leveling speed from 20-60. It made things faster for lowbies to get to 60 and experience the Outlands. When my paladin alt was leveling up, I noticed a really big drop in my leveling speed when I hit 60. With the Wrath of the Lich King expansion adding 10 more levels to the game, that’s 10 more levels to suffer through for every character you want to get to level 80 and that most definitely could be a pain in the behind. This is most definitely true for player who plan to make an alt that’s not a Death Knight and thus starting from level 1. Wouldn’t it be really great if Blizzard extended the leveling improvements up to level 70 or at least somewhere near 70?
CM Nethaera gives us hope that this scenario is possible though of course nothing is certain at this point.
..but keep in mind we’ve made increases to leveling speed from 20-60 and there is always a possibility of more of these sorts of adjustments if we feel it’s necessary. We don’t want people to skip content altogether though where we can help it. Azeroth has a lot of story within it and being able to experience it via the quests and exploring the various areas is a part of discovering that. source
and she goes on to say
We’re aware of these concerns and are going to be keeping an eye on everything as we go along. As I said, there is always the possibility of some additional things being done to ease leveling on the way to 80. I just couldn’t comment on what may be a possibility at this point in time.
Also keep in mind, we made improvements to Dustwallow Marsh and there is always the possibility of more of these sorts of improvements when time permits it to be put into the development cycle. source
I have some confidence that Blizzard will add more leveling improvements to the game to hasten the journey to level 80 at some point. They did it for 20-60 and it makes sense to extend it to 70 when the expansion comes. But if they do it, the question is whether they’ll do it from the moment the expansion comes out or patched in later on like 20-60 was in patch 2.3. there really isn’t much point in lingering in the “old world” (as the Outlands will become when the expansion comes out) too much. It’s best to experience the content but at a faster pace to get to where the fun begins. the levels 20-60 improvements are a great success and so should further ones for the expansion!
