On Inscriptions and Pendants: Scryers Got The Short End Of The Stick?
My blood elf holy paladin chose Scryers over Aldor for two reasons. First was because my mage was already Aldor and I didn’t want a repeat experience. Second was because I was lazy to grind an extra level of reputation. As you know Blood Elves start as friendly with the Scryers and Draenei start as friendly with the Aldor. If my paladin chose Aldor, I would have had to start at a lower reputation level and I was too lazy to do that.
I My paladin is an engineer so neither faction had anything for me as far as professions go. Being a holy paladin also meant the same thing since none of the rewards really fit holy paladins. That left the inscriptions (shoulder enchants) and while the Aldor inscriptions was what I really wanted, I thought the circumstances made Scryers a more attractive choice due to less reputation grinding. knew deep inside though that I really wanted to be Aldor since healers usually went that route. But since there really wasn’t much difference to make a big fuss about the decision, I went the lazy route.
Now I find myself grinding reputation for the Shattered Sun Offensive. While researching about the Shattered Sun Pendants that came as a reward for hitting exalted reputation, I found myself thinking that the Scryers pretty much got the short end of the stick again. Generally, the Aoldor shoulder enchants are better than the Scryer ones. In the case of the Shattered Sun Pendants, the proc effects are different depending on whether you’re Aldor or Scryers and for all pendants, the Aldor ones are so much better. Below are the pendants I’m talking about.
Shattered Sun Pendant of Acumen
Aldor: +120 spell damage for 10 sec.
Scryers: 333 to 367 damage Arcane Bolt.
Shattered Sun Pendant of Might
Aldor: +200 attack power for 10 sec.
Scryers: 333 to 367 damage Arcane Strike.
Shattered Sun Pendant of Resolve
Aldor: +100 dodge rating for 10 sec.
Scryers: +100 expertise rating for 10 sec.
Shattered Sun Pendant of Restoration
Aldor: +220 healing & +74 spell damage for 10 sec.
Scryer: Heals for 618 to 682.
Info from wowhead
As you may notice, the Aldor procs give you a buff that increases your spells damage/healing/attack power which is titally better than the Scryer proc which damages your enemy target or heals your ally target for a very small amount. To make things worse, this direct damage or heal that the Scryer procs gives do not get affected by your +damage/+attack power/+healing while the Aldor procs do. As for the case of the Shattered Sun Pendant of Resolve, the people who get this neck piece are tanks, otherwise they’d just get the attack power pendant. I’m pretty sure that tanks would much rather have the +dodge Aldor proc rather than the Scryer +expertise proc.
Is this proof enough that the Aldor generally got the short end of the stick again? I definitely think so.

It is clear to me that aldor got hooked up by these new neck pieces from shattered Sun Offence. it also bothers me that those who were already Exalted with Aldor/Scryer had no choice. i Say this cuase i currently have 3, 70’s. 2 of wich are scryer and the scryer proc for me on both accounts for my tunes are clearly alot worse than the aldor proc. arcanestrike+ instant heal = garbage compared to 200ap over 10sec adn 220healing over 10 sec. yada yada yada scryer is so much more convenient yes this is true, but if i had know that it was really gogin to make that much of a difference my decisions would have been alt different. The aldor proc to me is over powered cause its almost like a 3rd trinket proc, when most scryers are an instant spell. I much rather have an extra proc for 10sec that would stack wtih what ever else trinkets and awesomeness that i had. to me this is almost liek giving all alliance a sweeet trinket and screwing the horde or vice versa.

I even heard about incidents of scryer players accidentally aggroing a boss just because they left the boss targeted while buffing themselves and having the pendant proc on the boss resulting in an accidental pull. That would be something I’d hate to have happen to me.
