Polar Opposites
There are several classes to choose from while playing World of Warcraft and those classes fulfill different roles and have different abilities. Such gives each class a sense of uniqueness. But even then the game also has a sense of similarities between classes wherein different classes fill the same role to a certain extent. This whole design of the classes gives us the possibility of playing classes/specs that are similar such as mages and warlocks or prot warriors and feral druids and also gives us the possibility of playing polar opposites.
As far as classes and specs in World of Warcraft go, polar opposites are are those that are so different that there’s very little or even almost nothing common with each other. I got this whole idea way back when I started playing my paladin after playing a mage for so long. I noticed that one of the reasons why I had a hard time adjusting to the play styles of my paladin was that both styles are so different! This even more true now that my paladin is a healer. Below are reasons why I think the two classes are polar opposites:
Mage
Wears cloth
DPS Class
Ranged Combat
Can make own food and water
Can teleport self and others to major cities
Paladin
Wears plate
Primarily a tank or healer (while Ret is a dps spec, ret pallies still aren’t widely accepted)
Melee combat
Needs to buy food/water
Cannot teleport
Since my paladin is holy spec and I grind as such, I also end up OOM so fast and the speed at which I kill stuff does not compare at all to my mage. I’m not complaining though. I wanted to experience a different class with a different role and I got it. Next on my list is to have a tank but I’m not really sure I’m a tank type person.
What are your experiences, if any, in playing polar opposite classes? Which combination of polar opposites do you play?
