Reflection On Getting The Week’s Arena Games Done
While doing Karazhan earlier, a guildie made a statement on voice chat that inspired me to write about this topic. She said that she needed to do her arena games for the week even if it meant “going in and dancing around until they kill us”. She said she absolutely needed her points this week to get her shoulders (not sure which one she was talking about).
This got me thinking that if you make a spectrum of the attitudes and values people have towards doing their arena games you have the extreme of people who protect their rating at all costs at one end and people who want their points at all costs at the other end. Of course ideally, we want a good mix of the two.
Personally, while I like protecting my rating I also want to have my points for the week even if it means taking a dip in the ratings a bit. Somehow, not doing arena at all just to protect the rating is is too much of a measure just to prevent the rating from dipping. Since I’m most active in my 2v2 arena team and I pretty much do it with only one other guy, we prefer to do the minimum 10 games for the week and stopping there to prevent the possibility of the rating to go down even if we’re on a roll and could get the rating up. But no matter what happens, I want those points even if it means losing all 10 games. Of course we never go down without a fight.
What kind of person are you when it comes to doing arena? Which do you value more - the points or the rating?
