Spells Cast In BG “Preparation Period” Free In 2.3
The PTR patch notes for 2.3 recently came out and one of the things that caught my eye was the entry about preparation period in the BG’s.
Players will now be able to cast spells for free in the Battleground before it begins
Obviously this is not a new idea since the arena matches already use this. It’s definitely a nice change since it’s quite an inconvenience buffing up and having to drink up. Aside from this, there’s also another related change coming.
Players will now be able to cast spells for free for a few seconds after being resurrected by a Spirit Guide in the Battleground.
This change will be a god-send since some buffs cost so much mana and most of the time, there just isn’t any time to stop and drink up. Many times on my mage have I refrained from casting arcane intellect on myself in BG’s for that reason. The same thing can be said about the warlocks’ armors or druids’ mark of the wild.

That’s a great change and will help out a lot with getting buffs since they are now, in essence, free.
