The Daily That Makes You Spend

With all the excitement in getting my Paladin to 70 and getting her geared a bit more the past few days, I’ve been neglecting my daily quests on my mage. Upon deciding that earlier was a great time to do some of them to get my mage honored with the Shattered Sun Offensive (yeah I’ve been neglecting the dailies so the rep was lagging behind too), I ventured into the Isle of Quel’danas once again.

One of the first things I noticed was that the harbor was finally taken in our server and that there’s finally an inn and a mailbox where a bunch of pesky mobs used to stand. Doing the quest to kill the Summoners. Blood Knights and Marksmen now sucks doesn’t it? The Marksmen are hard to come by now. But another thing I noticed was the Monument to the Fallen that was erected somewhere near the Armory. I noticed the npc beside it and saw that there was a daily quest called Your Continued Support, which I learned is the permanent daily quest version of the quest A Charitable Donation. The quest got my attention right away since it’s actually a daily quest that makes you spend gold. “That’s new!”, I told myself as I was intrigued by the novelty of the situation. Daily quests are supposed to give you gold not make you spend them! I even remarked to my guild mates and one of them said that it’s another of the designers’ taste in humor.

Of course I quickly saw the purpose of the quest. It’s a way for players to “buy” Shattered Sun Offensive reputation for those who need it. I thought to myself that since I make so much gold from the dailies anyway and I needed the rep especially since I wanted to get to honored right away, I thought it was worth it to sacrifice some gold for the reputation I direly needed. For guys who think spending 10g for 150 SSO reputation isn’t worth it, then I admit that this quest isn’t for everyone but at least the option is there for everyone to use. I say it’s a pretty clever idea!
