The Horde Short Race
I was talking to a guild mate of mine the other day when we were both playing our druid alts in the level 20’s. There was a strange moment in the conversation when he asked me what race my druid was. Since there is only one race per faction that could a druid, I had to respond that I only the Taurens could be druids for the Horde. Then I remarked that I would reroll as blood elf that instant if they could be druids and that gnome druids would be funny. Then he remarks that it’s unfair that the Alliance get the two short races and the Horde doesn’t get any.
He told me that goblins should have been a Horde race and after listening to his reasons, I feel like he has a point. He first debunks the idea that goblins are a neutral race and therefore should not be part of the Horde. He says that Gnomes were a neutral race too and now they’re part of the Alliance. True, the reason is that the dwarves allowed them into Ironforge after Gnomeregan got corrupted but wouldn’t have been easy enough to make up a similar situation for the Goblins? The one snag I see with this though is that the Goblin towns would no longer be neutral so Everlook, Gadgetzan, Bootay Bay Ratchet and Mudsprocket would all be long to the Horde. But wouldn’t it have been fun to play a goblin warrior? Maybe a racial that made goblins earn gold slightly faster than everyone else would have been cool. I mean if Humans could earn reputation faster, this would have been the gold version of that.
Let’s turn our attention to another short race that could be a Horde race too and they even look the part. ever since I saw the cute little sporelings of Sporegarr in Zangarmarsh I immediately thought that they would have made a cool Horde race and a take the part as the cute short one too. Since they look the way they look, they would have fit right in with the Horde as an “ugly” race.
Perhaps it’s just the frustration that the Alliance not only get the two short races but also a big lumbering race in the Draenei that the Horde was proud to have in the Tauren. But I still hope the Horde gets a short race!
