The T4 Dungeons Are Kinda Strange

by Angelo on June 17th, 2008

I was hit with a thought today that has been staring me in the face for such a long time but never really put much attention into it. It’s a thought that would probably be nice to reflect on.

Tier 4 or T4 is the first tiered class set that players first encounter in TBC. Players get the gloves and the helm from Karazhan, the shoulders and leggings from Gruul’s Lair and the chest piece from Magtheridon’s Lair.Isn’t it strange that the T4 dungeons are split between 10 man and 25 man dungeons? Even if a 10 man group can consistently clear Karazhan every week and get reared well enough to do Gruul’s Lair, this strange setup makes it impossible for smaller guilds to get the rest of the set.

I think this was one of the reasons why my old guild died. We wanted so badly to do Gruul’s Lair consistently after our success with downing high King Maulgar for the first time, but we never could field the numbers after that. This makes the decision for all WoTLK raid dungeons to have 10 man and 25 man versions really make a lot of sense. This way the progression of gear won’t feel odd like T4, which is split among the 10 man Karazhan and the 25 mans Gruul’s Lair and Magtheridon’s Lair. We definitely don’t see T5 split between Tempest Keep, Serpentshrine Cavern and Zul’aman but that’s what it would be like if T5 followed the same model as T4.

What do you think?
