The Wrath Of The Lich King Login Screen
I just realized that since the beta version of the Wrath of the Lich King expansion is being tested right now, the new login screen must be out. Well I figured right since it’s all over Youtube. It’s a nice change to move away from the Dark Portal concept that the game has used for the original release and for the Burning Crusade expansion.
It’s a nice idea to use the Icecrown Citadel and its gates for the login screen since it’s more fitting for the expansion’s story. The Dark Portal isn’t involved in the story at all. My only complaint about the login screen design is that I think they could have made the gates a bit bigger to give the feeling of entering a huge passage that the portals of the past two login screens gave.
As for the music, I think it feels more epic with those drums and horns and it really psyches you up!
Update:
The new addition of the dragon adds a certain novelty to the whole login screen thing since the past two login screens never had something bursting into the screen like that. It sort of distracts you from the rest of the scenery though. Good thing it leaves after a while.

I’ve been staring at my roommate’s computer while they play the beta…..the dragon is a very nice touch.
