Threat Meter Woes
I just ran Karazhan with my guild for the first time since patch 2.4 came out (in fact, I think it was the first time I did anything with a group since because I was solo leveling my paladin). We were all excited for a fresh start to raid the place but early on we had some bumps in the road It was a tough night wherein we did Attumen, Moroes, Maiden of Virtue and Opera - Romulo and Julianne but only killed the first two before calling it.
Perhaps part of the reason why we had a hard time was the fact that we had some “new guys” run the place. By this, I mean alts of our regular members who just hit 70 recently. Because of the change to the requirement to enter the place, some of these guys didn’t even have the key. Never the less, we had a pretty good run considering these things.
One of the problems we encountered that couldn’t be associated with the presence of the new guys was our trouble with threat management. Here was our problem: We all had threat meters but they weren’t working. Our main tank got error messages every time she pressed an ability so she had to disable it. Some of us only had 2 or 3 players show up on the list. As for me, I was the only person showing up on mine. So basically our threat meters were useless and this caused a lot of instances early on wherein guys would accidentally pull aggro from the tank. Everyone in that raid earlier unanimously want a threat metert hat really works soon and that includes me!
As a side note, I’ve been thinking about the old days of pre-TBC. I remember raiding MC, ZG and AQ 20 without anyone in my old guilds having a threat meter yet we managed to get things done. I’m starting to wonder if we’re spoiled now that we’ve been using it a lot now.
