Trolls Are Us
For serious guilds that do raids and the other end game content, it’s not wise to adapt a theme that would limit its potential. Such guilds would need all classes and that means they should be open to all races. But for those guilds that play just for fun, it’s interesting to adapt a racial theme.
Way back when the game was pretty much just starting out, my brother was in an all Tauren guild. They were really all just Tauren and while ti was fun it wasn’t self sufficient for long. They needed other classes since the Tauren’s four classes just weren’t balanced enough to make do on their own. There’s only one race from the horde that could make do on their own to some extent, filling pretty much all the slots they need. Before TBC came out, they were the only race that had the best mix of classes to form a race based guild. I’m talking about the Trolls!
The trolls have the tank covered with the warrior class and the healing covered with the priest and restoration shaman. They have melee dps covered with rogues, enhancement shaman and dps warriors. they have ranged dps covered with hunters, mages and shadow priests.
Dwarves are a pretty complete race too but they lack the caster dps that mages and warlocks provide. The only other class that has a good mix of these functions is the Draenei. They have tanking covered with Paladins and Warriors and healing covered with priests, shaman and paladins. They have a good mix of dps classes to with mages, shadow priests, hunters, dps warriors and enhancement shaman. I guess the only thing against them is that they don’t have a rogue to add to the melee fps depth but that’s ok since the other classes can take care of that.
The good mix of classes together with the coolness factor many associate with the race makes the trolls a pretty nice race to be. No wonder so many people I know have trolls for either their main character or their alts!
