Update On Uldum
Prior to the release of The Burning Crusade expansion, several areas in the world of Azeroth have left players wondering what future these places hold. With the release of TBC, places like the Deadwind Pass and the Caverns of Time have become functional areas that players could not only visit but really have a role in the game. But many others still have our heads scratching.
Uldum is one of those places and it’s really a curious area. Located in the south of the Tanaris desert, Uldum is guarded by level 49 elite giants and all we see from the place is the huge gate. I remember that there’s a quest that you get from Uldaman that eventually leads you to the gates of Uldum. After you do your business there, you’re pretty much left hanging about what Uldum is all about.
CM Drysc gives us an update on Uldum (oddly enough, I was wondering about the future of Uldum just earlier)
No, it’s definitely a dungeon we’re keen on opening at some point. Whether that can actually happen or not, or when, hasn’t had any final decisions announced. It’s a location rich in Titan lore so it’s of course something everyone is excited to see come to fruition.
I find the door still interesting as something has obviously broken out. Was there something meant to be contained within Uldum, to be forgotten, that’s escaped? Possibly something we don’t even associate with the Titans or their creations. Maybe something we take for granted, I don’t know, but I like that idea. source
Reading up on Uldum in wowwiki, I found out that aside from Uldaman and Uldum there a place in Northrend called Ulduar. All three places are Titan bases. Rumor has it (read the wowwiki entries on Uldum and Ulduar) that since Ulduar is in Northrend and could very well be included in the Wrath of the Lich King expansion, we might see Uldum active by then too.
It’s definitely exciting to see what the devs have in store for these places. We’ll just have to sit back and wait in excitement for more word confirming or denying these speculations.
