Whack A Dummy To Test DPS
Did you just respec and want to see how it performs? Or did you just get this cool piece of gear and want to see how it affects your damage potential? or maybe you just wanna whack something to let off some steam while chilling out in the city. In the Wrath of the Lich King expansion, you actually can do these things without subjecting yourself to the perils of the world outside.
World of Raids reports that players have access to several training dummies, some of which are located at the Dalaran sewers. According to Tom Chilton (Kalgan), there will also be two kinds of level 80 dummies, one with regular stats and one with boss stats. Too bad that it seems like you can’t skill up weapons when using these dummies. That would make the major pain in the ass of skilling up your weapons a lot easier.
Now when do we get to see training dummies that hit back? I still think the training dummy system could be used to help players who are new to their class/role learn without the cost of wipes. This would be a nice way for new tanks to learn the basics of tanking and healers to learn the basics of healing. Instead of dummies, the system could be like a small “arena” where players could borrow npc’s and to fill missing slots to make a party and take on a practice elite mob.
For now we’ll just have to be happy with whacking a dummy to test our dps. It’s a start!
